Windows 10: Windows 10 HP Officejet Pro 8620 Will not print

Did you try to disable spooling and switch to direct printing?

 

No, how is that accomplished please?

 

Control panel; devices and printers; right click on printer; printer properties; advanced; Print directly to printer.
If it works, then it is a spooling (Windows) issue.

 

"Print Directly to Printer" is grayed out.

 

It is found under the settings, devices, printer and scanners, on the right at the bottom of the screen.

 

"Print Directly to Printer" is grayed out.

If not, I am afraid I have no further ideas to this issue.
(it was already said in the thread: try first to fix the problem with the USB connection, before concentrating on network printing).

 

Thanks for your help...I already tried connecting and setting up via USB with the same negative results.

 

I don't have a "Change Properties" button either.

 

Probably you did already this test (connection with printer not needed):
1) control panel; devices and printers; doubleclick on the default printer; doubleclick see wat is printing; a window appears. Do a printjob; anything appearing in this window?
If not, then there is a problem with spooling. Then:
2) Go to computer management; services and applications; services; Print Spooler.
Print Spooler should be running and automatic.

 

Nothing ever appears in the print queue.

Print spooler is running and set to automatic.

Please keep in mind that I am able to print to a Canon printer, just not to the HP 8620 AIO.

 

I am convinced that the problem arises from some faulty interaction between driver and W10. Let's assume that both are ok. Then the only possibility I see is that during the upgrade from W7 to W10 some old driver remains are still lingering in the registry.
So my suggestion is: uninstall the driver, do a manual cleaning of the registry on 8620 residues, do a restart after unchecking the fast boot option in power management, and install the appropriate driver.

With fast boot, turning off the PC "remembers" some settings etc. After changing things you may wish a "fresh start", so uncheck it. When you have a SSD, fast boot does not help much in improving start-up times:
settings; System; Power & sleep; Additional power settings; Choose what power button does; Change settings currently unavailable; uncheck Turn on fast start-up.

Before changing the registry, create a restore point. When you never made changes in the registry, just mention that (for further instructions) and be carefull.

 

*UPDATE: I am able to scan FROM the HP 8620 to the W10 PC. Still not able to print. I have not had an opportunity to try @play2mefish suggestions yet.

 

Same result; not able to print but scanning to the W10 PC works fine.
