Windows 10: windows 10 hungs in recovery mode when asked to clear TPM

Hi I need help to restore my windows 10. I reformat my HP laptop using windows recovery and follow the step by step to clear everything on my laptop and when it asked me to clear TPM I selected F1 to clear it and after pressing this the screen shows processing with the windows logo and after a few minutes it went black and It was liked that for a few hours. Search the internet and I turn off my laptop and re start it again and pressing the ESC button to show me some options and I tried again the option of recovery the and follow the instruction again and asked me again about to clear the TPM and this I time I press F2 to not to clear it but is still the same my screen went black. Is there anybody that can help and show me how to restore windows 10 on my laptop. Its my first time to reformat it using the recovery.

Need help on whether to clear TPM on not

It's clear as mud. As far as I can tell, it's specific to Windows, not necessarily activated programs like MacAfee, games, etc etc etc. MS Office, I have no idea.

Clearing TPM, did not ask for BitLocker Recovery key on system restart


Hi guys,

I know I had been overwhelming here with all my BitLocker and TPM related questions, but hopefully this should be my final concerns.

I have BitLocker full encryption enabled on my HDD.

1. Recently, I had this issue when going to the TPM.msc console and noticed under Status that the TPM is ready for use with reduced functionality This had been resolved by Clearing the TPM in the TPM.MSC console directly. 2. Here is my concern. How come after clearing the TPM and after restarting my laptop, BitLocker did NOT prompt me for my Recovery key? That seemed to be very odd. So in other words, looks like Clearing the TPM did not actually clear the BitLocker Recover key. I dont know.

So by Clearing the TPM, BitLocker will not loose the keys?
It seemed so after Clearing the TPM and rebooting my machine, BitLocker did not ask for a Recovery key.

I also checked to ensure that the key was still intact, and yes it is, by performing the manage-bde C: -protectors -get -type RecoveryPassword command.

In addition, I also checked manage-bde -status and all indicators are fine.

Clear your TPM

Important

Before clearing your TPM, be sure to back up your data. Do not clear the TPM on a device you do not own, such as a work or school PC, without being instructed to do so by your IT administrator.

Follow these steps to clear your TPM:

Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > Device security .

Under Security processor, select Security processor details.

Select Security processor troubleshooting, and then under Clear TPM, select Clear TPM.

Your device will need to restart before the process is complete.
