Windows 10: Windows 10 Icons keep moving every time I restart

I've had this problem for a long time and all the solutions I found online failed for me. e.g. renew or delete the icon cache; do a system check for corrupt files; check to see if the registry points to the right locations. Even the web site of the desktop restore application offers a tip which is moving an icon a bit and then back and then doing a refresh. Did nothing for me.But I have a solution which is why I'm posting this here.I suspect that it has something to do with aligning to the grid. You use a program like desktop restore to put your icons back but at some time you have changed the

Desktop Icon Keeps On Moving

That's because your resolution is changing each time. To test, try setting to 1024x768, arrange a couple of icons and then restart the PC. As long as the resolution after startup is still 1024x768, then the icons won't move. Trust me. *Wink

 

Windows 10 desktop icons not in order

In ccleaner, did you uncheck cleaning the icon cache... have not used in a while; however, I think that is what the option is called.

Now, if you are setting the icons and they move after you have set the settings and not changed them... you may have the "Random Windows 10 Icon movement problem".
Some people have this and some don't.
