  2. Alright! Let's see if these builds want to install on my ancient hardware...

Update: I already see I won't be able to install Skip Ahead to RS5. Requires to install 17093.1000 first (which I can not install). I have 17083.1000 atm...

No Sets either on 17604 although it should come as part of Rs5.

    now got 2 driver problems
1st known and ongoing - keeps throwing in the wrong driver

    2nd
intel HD driver with a code 39
screen resolution looked wrong on reboot, tried updating failed 0x8024ce27
revert to basic MS driver - good then 2 minutes later it tried to update failed
    screen resolution still wrong
checked Asus website - driver failed
    - specs showed resolution as being 15.6" 16:9 (1366 x768)

Seems like MS throws the wrong RECOMMENDED resolution 1024 x 768
    changed resolution
    Display is fine now
still have driver error and its associated Security Centre device performance error

    Roy

    Problem 2 fixed
Dissabled Intel graphics acceleration in BIOS

It will arrive later, I don't remember that Microsoft said that it should come with RS5 or that all the pre-release builds of RS5 would have sets, I remember that several people said they "expected" or "wanted" that, but I think Microsoft never said it.

  7. RS4 & RS5 is a no go for me. Can't clean install nor upgrade. Getting Blue screens every time. Bye, bye Windows. Total waste of my time in it's current state, including RS3. Always something broken even with only MS apps installed. This OS creates more problems than it solves.

MS, really have to start focusing more on stability and compatibility rather than bling bling. Speed is great, but it is not that useful if something always crash, stutter or freeze half of the time.

Hello Linux! The penguins works flawlessly for me. No noticeable bugs, no slow downs, no crashes and even get same boot up times compared to Windows. Not that it matters since my computers are on 24/7 anyways.

Modern Windows for modern HW, it works perfectly for me on Ryzen and Phenom II x4 desktops, also on friend's 775 socket desktop.

  9. Yeah and then comes a new build that works flawlessly on some crappy Celeron rig from last decade but fails to even boot on the latest Surface hardware. I've noticed that a flawlessly working system sometimes comes crashing down even after a minor revision patch. That is how unreliable Windows is currently.

I never got into THAT problem, occasionally it just wouldn't install a new build but only twice from the very start of W10 (all insider) I had to do clean install. Yeah, there was few problems but never a crippling one.

  11. Me neither regarding new builds until RS4. Ever since first Win 10 stability has gone down and none needed or unimportant to productivity bling bling features count has gone up.

RS4 has been near impossible to upgrade and clean install on my hardware since introduction. Now it is impossible to get it working.

Installed 17101 overnight so I don't know how slow it was.

Bluetooth pair still doesn't work well, got a bsod bluetooth related when i tried to mess whit it then another one just after that reset.
    I also have a Definition Update for Windows Defender Antivirus - KB2267602 (Definition 1.261.1230.0) - Error 0x80070643
    which the troubleshoot can't fix.

Everything else seems fine for now.

Yeah neither does here. I usually update it thru WD directly before new build. It works like that.

"Optimize drivers" still doesn't work in build 17101, when you click on "optimize" nothing happens, I use a third-party program to do it but it's a bug to report and in build 17604 the sleep function doesn't work well, at least in my case.
