Windows 10 installation error 0x8007025D - Bad RAM?

    Hi guys,

Just built a new system, spec here below....

    Here is my rig.

Corsair - Builder 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply
AS Rock AB350M-HDV - AM4 Micro ATX motherboard
    Cooler master Hyper 212 EVO
    120GB Drevo SSD drive
    Gigabyte GEFORCE GTX 1060 6gb
    AMD Ryzen 5 1500x
    Crucial - 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2133 Memory
    DVD Re-writer

So I have tried to install Windows 10 via a USB & tried via DVD drive.

Each time I get the 0x8007025D error (Windows could not install the required files)
It appears about 10% into the 'getting files ready for installation' stage.

I have tried different USB Sticks
I have tried inserting these into different USB ports as well
I have updated the BIOS to the latest version

    Then i tried running Memtest86

What I have noticed is that this has thrown an abundance of errors as shown below...

Would this indicate a bad RAM stick that needs to be replaced?

Would this be a reason as to why Windows install keeps failing (at the same stage)?

If not what else can I try?

    Thanks,

    Chris

Hi cjhill44. Welcome to the TenForums @cjhill44

It very well is related but absolutely for sure you should have ZERO errors running memtest.

Not sure if you are over clocking, if so stop and retest.

If not remove one stick and retest.

Please be sure you populate memory slots according to manual specs. There are specific ports you are to use. Some time they are clour coded or labelled A or B slots. I didn't look at your manual. Also check voltage of sticks.

Your MB usually has recommended / approved memory to be used.

    Thanks for your reply,

I'm not overclocking i'm pretty sure but how do I confirm?

I only have the 1 x 8gb stick and have tried the RAM stick in both slots, but A1 is the one it should be in

AS Rock supports my RAM it seems...

    Crucial CT8G4DFD8213 8 GB (DDR4, 2133 MT/s, PC4-17000, DR x8, DIMM 288-Pin) Memory:Amazon.co.uk:Computers & Accessories

    DDR4 2133 8GB Crucial CT8G4DFD8213.C16FAD11 SS 2pcs
    DDR4 2133 8GB Crucial CT8G4DFD8213.16FA2 SS 2pcs

Though mine has CT8G4DFD8213.C16FBD2 on it and on PCPartPicker it says that it is compatible with my motherboard

  5. Interesting. It is not listed as supported on ASRock site.

    http://www.asrock.com/MB/AMD/AB350M-...dex.asp#Memory

Any reason you went with one stick? Note the second bullet on page 23 of manual. You need two sticks for Dual Channel.

    http://asrock.pc.cdn.bitgravity.com/...AB350M-HDV.pdf

Is yours single single sided or double sided. The memory list seems to only support SS, if I understand the abbreviations correctly. I would ask ASRock what they mean by SS and DS as they seem to use different terms at bottom of page 23

Overclock. You need to go into BIOS and check settings. Lots of Overclock boards are set to Overclock automatically. Starts page 45 of manual.

I have been on PC Part Picker which says its supported and also onto crucial's website which said my motherboard will support it.

I am hoping its just a bad RAM stick, have ordered a replacement. If that doesn't fix it then I am not sure what I'll do. Thos is my first PC build so all this is new to me.

I went with 1 stick of 8gb because i didnt want to spend another £50-£60 on another stick and thought 8gb would be enough.

Fairly sure it's single sided module.

Here you and 8GB is generally enough but you have defeated the dual channel.

It very well is a bad stick. let's hope.

    Good luck.
