Windows 10: Windows 10 Installation media ONLY allows for update, not installation !!!

HP Pavillion 595. It will get to the sign in screen but, once you sign in, goes to a strobe like screen and does nothing else. Obviously, something is corrupted. OK. Create installation media using the tool https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10Boot from USB, then it asks if I want to "Update" or Custom Install. NO OPTIONS TO SIMPLY INSTALL! Click "update" because there is no other choice and it tells me that I need to operate the "update" from Windows BUT WINDOWS WON'T START !!!How do I simply download software onto a USB that will simply allow me to reinstall Wi

Windows Updates failed to instal

I just did step one and they have just all installed.... thank you so much.... it was quite frustrating having that update window pop up every 5 minutes and failing to instal every time

It's basically what I mentioned above, small issues here and there ,but nothing to end your day.. for the most part.

I know it's anecdotal, but for my experience 95% of the time it's perfectly fine. The issues I've run into wouldn't be enough for me to roll back , but they would be enough (had I not installed it yet) ,to avoid it for another couple weeks which is why I'm suggesting it to the OP

Windows 10 installing progs

I decided to take the plunge and upgrade to windows 10 from 7. I used the Media Creation Tool from MS website. It took awhile, but I am finally running Windows 10 (12-14).

I opened the new App & Program feature to remove programs that I no longer needed. Scrolling down the list, I was horrified! Apps that I didn't install somehow magically installed themselves. Two programs stood out: Facebook and Candy Crush Soda Saga. Both programs have those tale-tale icons that they came from Windows Store (which I've never even opened). The install date for both of them were on 12-26.

Is this a common thing for Windows 10? Or is it because I did an upgrade and not a clean install?
