  1. Windows 10 Installation Process Doesn't Recognise Any Hard Drives

I have a second hand Dell Precision T7600 with a previous Education version of Windows 10 installed that runs but has not been activated. I have bought a new licence of Win 10 Home 64-bit OEM and want to do a clean install. I have prepared the installation USB and set the boot sequence in BIOS all HDDs are visible to BIOS, and are in non-RAID config, but when I boot to the USB and run the Win 10 installation process it cannot see any hard drives when it gets to the 'specify where you'd like to install Windows' bit. As I say, the hard disks are all visible from both the existing Windows and BIOS, and I have reformatted 2 of the 3 so they are already clean, to no avail. Dell Support say as the disks can be seen from BIOS it is not a hardware issue, so can you please suggest anything? Many thanks, Ralph.

    :)

Hard drive is not recognised in Windows 10

    Original title: Hard Drive

    Hi,

I have clean installed Windows 10 on a brand new hard drive all went well until the first update restart now my computer does not boot and the hard drive is not recognised, it is impossible to do anything with this hard drive now.

It seems this is not an uncommon issue, Microsoft doesn't seem to address this problem.

Does anyone know why Windows 10 seems to be destroying hard drives.

    I would appreciate any help.

    Thank you.

Samsung M3 portable hard drive not getting recognised on Windows 10.

    Hi,

Thank you for your response with the current status of the issue.

To assist you better, please provide us the below information

    • Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall the external hard drive on the computer?
    • Are you logged into the Administrator Account while assigning the driver letter to the external hard drive?

I recommend you to follow the steps below to update all the pending Windows updates and also try to reinstall the hard drive driver in the Device Manager. Check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to update all the pending Windows updates in the computer and check if it helps.

    1. Click on Start Menu.

    2. Then select Settings.

    3. Choose Update & security >
    Windows Update
    >Check for updates. Install any available updates and restart your PC if required.

Step 2: I recommend you to uninstall and reinstall the Hard drive as suggested in the previous post. Also you can run Hardware and Device troubleshooter.

Step 3: Then try to boot the computer in safe mode and check if the hard drive is getting recgonized in it or not.

Start your PC in safe mode in Windows 10:
