  1. Windows 10 installed update, computer restarted as if it were a new install

I'd like to know what idiocy at microsoft caused a update on my 10+ year old laptop to restart as if it were a completely new install? After installing a "update" the computer restarted and was asking to create a new account, asking to "name the computer", and was behaving as if it was the first time the 10+ year old laptop had ever been turned on. Thanks to the moronocracy that is Microsoft everything that was on that computer is completely and fully gone. All the restore points from the past 10 years... gone. Everything is completely deleted as if it never existed. Thank you the idiots

    :)

Installing Windows 10 on New PC?

I'm going to be building a new PC on Christmas and want to install Windows 10 on it. I have Windows 10 on my current PC, which I installed upgrading from 8.1 with the files on a USB. How do I go about installing a clean copy of Windows 10 on this new PC? I think I recall something about installing it once makes Microsoft recognize your hardware, but since this will be a PC I'm not sure what steps I need to take. Do I need to go 8.1 -> 10 or is there a method of going directly to 10?

New install Windows 10 (issue solved)

It's good that you're not experiencing any issues. Unfortunately many folks are, a quick Google search will show the same info im offering the OP.

    Heres a couple examples:

    Here

It's basically what I mentioned above, small issues here and there ,but nothing to end your day.. for the most part.

I know it's anecdotal, but for my experience 95% of the time it's perfectly fine. The issues I've run into wouldn't be enough for me to roll back , but they would be enough (had I not installed it yet) ,to avoid it for another couple weeks which is why I'm suggesting it to the OP
