Windows 10 installer not compatible with accounts using 2FA

    Hello

I am trying to install Windows 10 but on the online account setup step, when I try to give it my Microsoft account email it says "that doesn't look like a work or school email address". But I've used this email to install win10 on two other desktops and my laptop. It is also the account I'm posting this from right now.

Why is it saying that this email is invalid? It's a perfectly valid account and the one I usedaily.

EDIT: Nevermind I figured it out. I have 2FA set up through MS Authenticator for this account and I guess for whatever reason, the Win10 installer is no longer compatible with accounts using 2FA for sign-in. After finishing the install with a dummy offline account, I tried adding my online MS account through the Windows Security app and after being prompted for the code from Authenticator the account was recognized right away and let me add it.

Microsoft, this is embarrassingly bad. For all the headaches you put people through to get them to use MS accounts for their desktop sign-in, the least you can do is make sure your own stupid authentication system is compatible with the installer.

    :)

  2. Installing Windows 10 using Windows 7 key

Nope, you need to install Windows 10 first and make sure the Windows 7 key is transferred to your Windows account after you've installed Windows 10 (not quite sure how that works). I missed the last step and I could not activate Windows 10 after a re-install... Microsoft seem to have done everything they can to make it a PITA. Also, it's technically too late to do this now anyhow, as the upgrade offer has expired. But KMSPico works quite well...

As for getting rid of Windows, delete the Windows folder.

Windows 10 installer not compatible with accounts using 2FA

Strange Windows 10 User Account issue.

Unfortunately I had done those steps numerous reboots, it just, reappears for no good reason. The base account isn't even a Microsoft account, it's a local account.

I haven't quite tried the built in administrator account on W10, but so far in my experience on my own computer, the built in account seemed to have absolutely no more control than I did on my own.

It's just strange, I go in, it warns me twice about deleting the account, then it's gone. Reboot, and it's back?

EDIT: Just to specify, both command line and Netplwiz both say only HIS account exists on the computer, it doesn't list this rogue account. This is what I meant in my first post about the fact that even Windows doesn't seem to believe it exists, HALF the time. *Frown Windows 10 installer not compatible with accounts using 2FA :(
