  1. Windows 10 Installs Not Using D Drive Even After Changing Default Storage Destinations

    My two drives:

I intend to use D Drive for my apps and games.

Back story - I had to format my C Drive and reinstalls a newer version of windows. For some reason, my computer wouldn't recognize the items on my D drive, so I deleted everything in my D Drive and reinstalled things, some of which installed in D drive when given the option, and others forcefully installed onto C Drive.

I open microsoft store, go to download Sea of Thieves - the only device it offers me is my C Drive, which doesn't have enough space anyways. So I do some microsft store and xbox game app updates, then restart my computer. It allows me to start downloading it, but doesn't ask me which drive, it went to my C Drive, taking up the rest of the space, so I cancelled the install.

I already switched my storage settings to:

Just incase you want to review my disk management:

I'm getting so frustrated, I don't know why my computer is not recognizing my D Drive after reinstalling windows 10

    :)

  3. Changing the default storage designation for the Microsoft Windows Store and various apps.

    Hi Isaac,

The default storage location for the Windows store and apps is in system location where Windows is stored (This PC-> C drive), if you want to change the default location of the apps then I suggest you to follow the below steps to change the settings
    and check if it helps.

    • Open Settings and click on the System icon.
    • Click on Storage on the left side, on the right side under
Save locations, select the drive to where you want your
      documents
      , music, pictures, and/or
      videos
to be saved to by default.
    • Click/tap on Apply.

The above settings option is available only from the Windows version (10586), I suggest you to check in which version of Windows build in installed on your computer.

Please get back to us with an update on this issue, we will be happy to assist you further.

    Thank you
