@Kari,
This is use of the instructional videos is a such a great idea. Sometimes instructions my be interpreted wrong and make us/me frustrated. I'd love to join your session today but we have a benefit dinner to attend tonight so if the interest is still there, I'd like to attend any future sessions if I could.

Thank you for your support!

I've looked at the Event Time Announcer and it looks like you're five hours ahead of Central Time in the US, Kari. So, that puts me at 12:30 PM here?

I like Lync; have attended sessions with Microsoft and it seems to work pretty well with Windows 10. I also went to Youtube and looked at live recordings and they seem to work. So, hopefully, I'm set.

Edit: Never mind. *Smile As I clicked to post, your post came across the wires. I'm now testing Windows and waiting. Got everything else installed.

OK geeks, we will start in about hour and a half. You can already log in to the meeting at
Skype for Business to test it works for you. Notice: no audio before start time.

For those not familiar with Lync Online Meetings, here's a quick guide:

1. Click the meeting link above
2. If you have Lync desktop installed and you want to use your organisational Lync Account, simply click Launch Application if the dialog is presented. It will only be presented if Lync is installed.
3. If you have no Lync account from your organization or would for any reason rather use the Lync Web App, click Do Nothing and click Join Using Lync Web App instead:

4. Install the Lync Web App plug-in for your browser (screenshots from Chrome), it takes a few seconds, and when done click Join the meeting:

5. Launch the Lync Web App

6. Give any name, would be nice if you used your Ten Forums username and click Join the meeting

7. If you want to hear me and possibly talk by yourself, select Using my computer in Join Meeting Audio dialog (#1 in screenshot below). Open the Chat window (#2) and list of participants (#3)

8. You are done, takes less than a minute.

Looks complicated, is really easy *Smile.

Thank you Wynona *Smile.

Geeks, I have no patience to start encoding the two hour video from our live session now, at 21:45 (9:45 PM) on Saturday evening. It would be almost 4 hours before the raw video was encoded, plus the time to edit and polish it. I'll do it withing the next couple of days and post here when done.

Please keep making your videos and post them here!

Not a problem, Kari. You must be exhausted; talking for an hour and a half isn't the easiest thing in the world.

I'm going to go out and see what's available for us to use.

Kari, good video. But, are you drinking Scotch from a Black coffee cup now? I did like that though, it looks good.

*Smile Thanks.

BTW, that video in post #88 got its final touch with Adobe Premiere Pro. Here's the same video without that final touch, using the free tools only exactly in the same way we used them yesterday, and in the same order:

- Screen capture with Expression Encoder Screen Capture tool
- Raw video encoded with Expression Encoder
- Video imported to Movie Maker, some segments fast forwarded, captions and narration added
- Still in Movie Maker, the text slides made with PowerPoint inserted, some transition animations added
- Video saved in Windows 1080p quality and uploaded to YouTube

The meeting video uploading to YouTube as we speak, is there in 20 minutes.

Difference or not, my point is that it is totally possible to make nice videos with free tools only as we did yesterday. OK, you can polish the final video a bit more with some advanced editing tools but the combination Expression Encoder - Movie Maker - Free PowerPoint Online - Snipping Tool is enough to create a good looking instructional video.

OK, here's the video from our online session yesterday. Video is quite raw, I have not polished or edited it at all apart of cutting half an hour irrelevant material away. In the beginning a few cuts have been made too long, causing the audio to jump comically. Sorry about that.

Please notice that although I have been participating many online meetings, this was the first time for me to have an online instructional session to show fellow members how to do something in Windows. I was not prepared as I should have been, or rather I was prepared for wrong things and stuff *Smile.

Anyway, as this was the first time, I learned some dos and don't dos for the next session *Smile. I promise it will be better and I will stay calmer...

Turn your PC volume down a bit please *Smile. As always, click the YouTube logo bottom right to watch in YouTube to enable full screen.
