Windows 10: Windows 10 Intel driver update includes performance upgrades

Intel’s November update for Windows 10 is now rolling out to users with version 1709 or newer. Intel DCH driver 27.20.100.8935 for Windows 10 delivers system enhancements, bug fixes for existing games, and performance upgrades.

As it stands right now, it appears that the GPU driver update is rolling out to Windows 10 via Intel’s Support Assistant tool in the select region.

According to the changelog, Intel has made a change that could improve the performance of your system when you’re streaming videos on YouTube. The changelog states that the update for Windows 10 includes “performance improvements when using Chrome YouTube Media Playback”.

Chromium bug report recently alleged that Windows 10 version 2004 or newer is affecting Google Chrome’s frequency of handling sensitive tasks responsible for video streaming, including YouTube videos.

Windows 10 version 2004 reportedly simulate “normal” thread scheduling in processes and this is suspected of causing frame drops during video playback. It’s possible that users will see improvements in the overall performance of video playback after the update, at least on YouTube.

Apart from performance upgrades, Intel DCH version 27.20.100.8935 doesn’t have much in terms of new capabilities, but it comes with fixes for Crysis Remastered, which was crashing after users applied October driver release.

Intel says it has also resolved minor graphic anomalies observed when playing Doom Eternal, World of Warcraft, etc. In addition, Intel has fixed performance issues experienced when launching Civilization 6: Gathering Storm, Forza Horizon 4, and other games on integrated graphics.

In terms of hardware and operating system support, not much has changed here. Intel says you’ll need Windows 10 version 1709 or newer to install the driver. Intel is supporting processors from the 6th-gen all the way through the 11th. Older processors, including Pentium, and Celeron are also supported.

Of course, this update won’t be rolling out to everyone today and you may not see it right now. Rather, this will likely be pushed to all Windows 10 users by next week.

Either way, performance improvements in Intel drivers are always appreciated and, most likely, we’ll see new features including hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling on Intel graphics next year.

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

I really hate having to come here and ask for help, but I really am stumped. It hurts my geek pride. I have a PC with fairly modern hardware in it. It has a p8p67 pro in it. I have tried upgrading windows 10 on it twice now. Both times I have had the same result.

After windows finishes upgrading it goes to the log in/set up screen. I can't do anything. No keyboard or mouse input is accepted.

I will list some, or hopefully all, of the troubleshooting steps I have tried:

• Move keyboard and mouse to different USB ports.
• Try different keyboard or mouse.
• Restart computer, repeatedly.
• Google for related issues.
• Update Bios, because why not.
• Create boot media and revert to windows 7.

The windows 10 system restore boot media works fine with keyboard and mouse. All USB ports work in windows 7. I don't know what is wrong. I suspect that windows 10 is lacking a driver of some sort, but since the computer accepts no input I have no way of checking for which driver let alone installing it.

Please help me figure this out. If I have to revert back to windows 7 again, I am not going to get it upgraded to windows 10. Thank you in advanced.

i've seen this when the stock USB drivers went kaput. Only ever seen it once - i used a PCI USB 2.0 card and connected the mouse and keyboard to that, and manually updated the USB 2/USB 3 drivers.

 

Intel Readies P55 Chipset B3 Stepping Update

Intel's is readying a hardware update for its P55 Express chipset, currently the only core-logic for the company's brand new socket LGA-1156 processor platform. The new B3 stepping of the P55 PCH will bring with it a little more than new MM number and S-spec numbers. A list of changes is as follows:

• New MM number and S-spec numbers for the converted products;
• Firmware and minor BIOS updates are required with the conversion;
• Processor MRC/microcode update required to enable future processors;
• Recommended storage driver upgrade from Intel MSM 8.9 to Intel RST 9.5.

Although it is listed that the MRC update enables 'future processors', Intel, in a statement issued to X-bit labs assured that the current B2 stepping of the chipset (found on current socket LGA-1156 motherboards) does not leave out support for any of Intel's new LGA-1156 processors that are slated for release in the very near future. The dual-core "Clarkale" 32 nm processor will be supported by both B2 and B3 steppings of the chipset.

P55 B3 stepping is pin-identical to P55 B2, and hence motherboard vendors will not have to come up with new designs. Sampling of the new stepping began as early as on October 02, 2009, and it is scheduled for shipment to manufacturers by the 7th of December, 2009. P55 is the performance core-logic for the LGA-1156 platform. It supports Core i5 and Core i7 "Lynnfield" processors with discrete graphics.
