    Cortana setup internal mic assumes Jack mic

    I'm trying to setup Cortana. I can use internal mic for skype, oovoo, and other programs just fine. when I try to setup the mic in Cortana, it's defaulting to the Jack mic and I don't have one plugged in. How do I reset the mic setting to internal for
    Cortana? Dell Inspiron 5720 running windows 10 upgrade from win8

    Only internal mic works?

    I use a Nextbook Flexx 10. I want to make little videos, but my internal mic sucks, so i bought a new headset (combo cord). when i did, the headphones didn't work. my computer DOES have a combo jack, but when doing mic tests only internal mic works. nothing
    of use is on the Nextbook website, and i have combed through every part of the device manager and sound manager. When i go to troubleshooter, it says "no jack information available". My "internal audio jack" in sound manager was disabled, i enabled it, and
    it still didnt work. Also, strange thing, in my sound manager many things are listed as "Steam Streaming Device" or "Steam Speaker" or "Steam Streaming Microphone". The "steam microphone" was put as the description of the disabled audio jack, but i can find
    nothing about it. Anyways, searching the rest of the forums, all i get are the exact same textbook windows helper responses. i may have missed something in sound manager, but don't point out obvious things like "Is is muted". Please help!

    audio/mic jack


    i have a windows tablet with a dual headphones/microphone jack.
    i plug in a pair of earphones with a built in mic, the audio does come through the earphones but the mic is not used. the mic on the tablet is still being used.
    how can i get the mic on the earphones to work?
