Windows 10: Windows 10 Internal power error?

Sometimes I get bsod when shutting down or turning on the computer, although very rarely. I would suggest you to follow the method given below and check if it helps.



Method 1:

Run the power troubleshooter and restart the system to check if that helps.

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with power. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your Power.

Refer these steps:

• Press Windows key +X, select Control panel.
• Change the view by option on the top right to
  Large icons.
• Click on troubleshooting and click on the
  view all option on the left panel.
• Run the Power troubleshooter

If the issues persist I would suggest you to follow the second method.

Method 2: Create a new power plan.

• 
  Go to search box.
  
• 
  Type power option in search box.
  
• 
  Tap or click Create a power plan and follow the instructions.

I can imagine the inconvenience you are experiencing and will certainly help you in the right direction to fix the issue.

As per the issue description you are facing issue with power options in Windows 10.
This could be an issue with the corrupt power plan settings. This issue might also occur due to outdated display driver or some other devices are responsible to keep it awake.

Try the below mentioned methods and see if it works for you.

Method 1

Try to run Power Troubleshooter which is built troubleshooter and you may follow the steps mentioned below to run it.

• Press the Windows key and
  X at the same time.
• Now click on Control panel.
• In the search box of Control Panel type
  Troubleshooter, and select troubleshooting among the list.
• Under System and Security, click
  Improve power usage.
• Now try to run the troubleshooter and check if it helps.

Note: If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Method 2

If issue persists I would suggest you to Reset and restore the power plans to default.

• Press Windows key and
  X at the same time.
• Choose Command Prompt (Admin) from the context menu.
• In the command prompt, type powercfg –restoredefaultschemes
  and hit Enter.
• Exit command prompt.

Note: This would reset the power plan settings to default. Any customized power plans would be removed.

Method 3:

If that does not help, delete the power plan and create a new power plan and check.

Please follow these steps to change the power plans:

a) Press Windows
Key +X key together.

b) Select Control Panel. Select
Power Option.

c) From the left hand side panel select Create
a Power Plan.

Note: The article is for Windows 8/8.1 but steps holds good for Windows 10 too.



Method 4

The issue could also be related to the Display drivers and other updates. I want to inform you that updates will be released by Microsoft. So, I would suggest you to keep checking your Windows updates not only important
one but optional too. If any available try to install them and see if it helps you to fix the issue.

First try to install all of the Windows updates available and if issue persists, try to update the Display drivers by following the steps provided in the article mentioned below.

If issue still persists, then install the drivers for Windows 8/8.1 from the manufacturer's website in compatibility mode and check if that works.
