Windows 10: Windows 10 Internet Warning of No Internet, but there is

Hello,

Having a odd problem that just recently happened to the computer. The NIC in Windows is reporting a Warning message of "No Internet", but I have full internet like normal.

I think it would be best to show everything in picture format. The driver has been reinstalled with the latest version.









Thoughts?

Wi-Fi is on // No connection (after Windows Update)

On Oct 13 windows updated.

The update must've invited malware into my computer. I tried to run my antivirus after the update but it said there's no connection. Google chrome lost connection as well and then I got a pop-up saying that Windows Defender found and blocked a "Severe Trojan
threat". So I deleted it and I still don't have connection... (weirdly) the only thing that works is the Explorer app. I have internet; the Wi-Fi works just fine but, everything else doesn't connect. It's something internal that must be causing
the problem and it all started after the update.

P.S.

It also changed my network from private to public so I had to fix that.

And YES, I did allow these programs through the Firewall so that's not the problem.

I've run into this every now and then.....all I did was reboot my modem/router and that always fixed it. While your at it, check for a firmware update.

 

I've rebooted the PC a bunch of times, tried resetting services and tools on the PC. Nothing seems to help.

Windows is fully up-to-date, drivers updated, driver software is updated, removed any other NICs on the PC. I'll try rebooting the network to see if that helps.

Edit: I rebooted the whole network, including all of the switches and, while Windows can detect that the signal has been lost, the problem remains.

 

To reboot the modem/router.....unplug from power outlet or use a paper clip to insert in the tiny hole on back of unit until unit restarts or log in to the modem/routers web-based page and use their reboot tab. While you are in there check for a firmware update.

Side note: nothing to do with your issue. I just did a clean install (2 days ago), system fully updated (drivers/software) and device manager was perfect. Now I went in there to confirm my E2200 gig eth (same as yours)....now I'm showing a other device as unknown. WTH.

 

Yes, as mentioned the entire network was rebooted; including the modem. The modem's firmware is not able to receive updates and router updates are automatic.

The yellow triangle shows you are connected to internet but do not have access to the internet, that would be your internet provider fix. I get that every time AT&T and Centurylink comes around and do their maintenance.

 

Interesting enough, @Plankton it went away for now. You are right, seems to be a hit or miss. All well. *Sleepy

 

Well, my side note turned out to be a legacy driver for my gaming mouse. Uninstalled that and downloaded the the cloud based driver which I hate. Now device manager is all well. Go figure!

 

Device manager never seemed to complain, but I will check that out next time if it appears again.

 

Do you use a proxy server at your network?

If yes: at elevated command prompt, type netsh winhttp set proxy ipaddrort
Use the proper hostname/ip address and port number of your proxy server.

If no: at elevated command prompt, type netsh winhttp reset proxy
