  1. Windows 10 is acting up or I may have broken it

    Hello!

I recently decided to change my user folder name because I didn't like the name windows gave it. Also, I decided to change all names from the old name to the new one in the registry to make sure everything would work correctly. That all went fine until I was editing the last few keys or files? I don't know what to call them. My user is now gone, and basic apps such as file explorer are not working anymore. The start menu and stuff are not opening as well. For example, when opening file explorer it gives me these 2 errors:

    Explorer.EXE

The specified device, path, or file cannot be accessed. You may not have sufficient permissions to access the item.

    C:\Users\Myuser\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\Tas...

No file is assigned to the file to carry out this action. Install an app, or create a mapping on the settings bar for standard apps if an app is already installed.

Im on my secondary account which I never used and it's sadly not an administrator account. But that wouldn't mean I don't have the permissions to access file explorer since im pretty sure everyone can. Im not sure if I can do anything at this point. Recovery mode says I don't have any restore points when I sure did make some. I tried resetting with it just erroring and not doing the reset. I don't want to reinstall windows either unless I have to. I have reinstalled windows so many times now it's getting annoying + I have some important stuff on this laptop I want to keep.

If there is anything I could do unless reinstalling windows then please let me know.

Thank you. i have put this under this category since I wasn't sure if it would under any other ones

    :)

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

  3. ACT Pro 2013 will not open in Windows 10

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

The most likely causes on a standalone are a damaged or invalid .pad file or SQL is not running, or is damaged.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if the issue persists.

      • Click your Windows Start button, choose Run and type in actdiag.

      • When ACT! Diagnostics comes up, click Databases, the Database List.

      • Locate your database in the list, right-click on it and select Detach. Make sure you know the filepath to your database before detaching it.

      • When the database has been detached, open My Computer (or Windows Explorer) and browse to the location of your database.

      • Locate the .PAD file for your database [database name].pad and delete it.

      • Reopen ACT!...you will get a message that the last database opened cannot found, then will be taken to the Open Database dialog box.

      • At the bottom of this box, change the Files of Type to .adf, browse to the location of your database and double-click on the .adf file for your database.

      • You will get a message that ACT! will verify your database, click OK and ACT will reattach your database to SQL and create a new .pad file.

      • Hope this helps.

DTS supported natively by Windows 8/8.1 and it should work on windows 10 too just DDL require to unlock your driver .
