Windows 10: "Windows 10 is activated with a digital licence" but I didn't activate it

I recently bought some old hardware to build a PC.

Almost all parts except the hard drive and GPU is bought second hand.


The hard drive is from a old HP PC which had Windows 7 preinstalled by HP, but I deleted all partitions including the "System Recovery" partition before putting it on the new PC, erasing all data. I think that rules out me upgrading from Windows 7, but I did notice something like "Install Windows 10 but keep all settings. This option is only available if you have previously installed Windows" being an option, though I didn't click it.


I installed Windows 10 Pro with a USB drive which I made with Windows 10 Media Creation Tool I downloaded from microsoft.com. While installing, I skipped the activation process by clicking "I don't have a product key". Also, I didn't plug in the ethernet cable, so I used a local account instead of logging in with my Microsoft account. No activating Windows 10 with my Microsoft account here.


I have read somewhere you can use Windows 10 without limits for 30 days, but I don't think that's the case here. As you can see from the picture, activating isn't even an option. It seems to be already activated.

windows 10 activation - licence will expire soon

There are two new entries in the Diagnostic report.

1. Activation Scenario Code:

2. ProductKey Code:

Both are blank on my PC.

My guess is 1. above relates to this VAMT Step-by-Step Scenarios (Windows 10) | Microsoft Docs - if so non-volume users won't be affected.

No idea about 2. - there are more than enougn PK entries already!... was hoping some more digital licencing stuff would come up.

Gonna have to do some more digging and testing,,,

 

Windows 10 digital licence activation issues

Good day

My hardware sticker indicates that I have a Windows 10 Pro digital license, I installed Windows 10 Pro accordingly.

Now when I try activate my digital licence it says that I have a Home Single Language licence and must install correct version.

Please advise how this is possible and what could be the cause of this, I have activated many machines without fail in this regard but today suddenly things changed?

Please revert with reasons and a fix to resolve urgently to activate the Pro version which is what I require.

Activating Windows 10 with a digital licence

Hello there

I have a windows 10 pro digital licence registered to my pc , I have changed the hard drive and of course I do not have a Windows 10 CD , so I borrowed my friends windows 10 pro disc and reloaded that onto mine and I choose will register later , so all
well up to them , loaded all the up dates , rebooted and in the activation it is saying , "it can't activate windows on this device because because you don't have a valid digital licence .

But when I log into my Microsoft account it is showing my pc , along with windows 10 pro and the model number and serial number of this pc .

I am stumped , my account says I have a licence for this machine but windows on my pc is saying I don't , baffled .
