Windows 10: Windows 10 is not activated after update from Windows 8.1 OEM version

My laptop had pre-installed version of Windows 8.1 RTM Core OEMM . I've updated to Windows 10 using the "Install Now" option via https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows10 The Windows is shown as not active and when I try to active it manually using the Win 8.1 key I'm receiving error 0x803fa067.Based on below article the Window 10 Home should be activated automatically after the upgrade from Windows 8.1https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/get-help-with-windows-activation-errors-09d8fb64-6768-4815-0c30-159fa7d89d85#id0eld=windows_10 Could you please advise me if

Windows 8 failure configuring updates and reverting

I agree 8 is awful! It's not for me though... I replaced a broken screen in a Win 8 laptop that was given to me and I am going to give it for free to someone that can't afford one so they can do homework at home. Yes I took it from 8 to 8.1 back on 10/09/2014. This is what I posted there...

1. Step 1 should read to disable AUTOMATIC updates, not disable manual updates.

2. KB2871398 should really read KB2871389

I would like to say that KB2917499 may also be needed as it was in my case. I also had to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter after installing those 2 updates. After these steps I was able to begin my 8.1 download from the Microsoft store. I don't know if it made a difference or not, but I also went into the Bios and disabled "Secure Boot."

I bought Windows 7 Pro OEM key from G2Play.net for 12€ to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro - worked like a charm but be advised if you buy a OEM key you can not download the Win 7 iso from microsoft and have to get it elsewhere.
