Windows 10: Windows 10 is not showing the battery level of any of my bluetooth devices even though...

I just bought a Bluetooth speaker and it has no indication of how much battery is remaining on the speaker. Windows 10 is apparently supposed to show battery life of all bluetooth devices but it won't work for my speaker or my bluetooth keyboard.
Anyone know how to fix this?
Is there an alternative program i can download to do the same thing?

Viewing battery level for Bluetooth Headphones

Hello Jerry my name is Bradford and I'm an Independent Advisor for the Microsoft Community and I'll try to help you find the battery level information for your Bluetooth Headphones. I suggest you try the following steps:

1. Open the "Settings app".

2. Open the page "Devices", then go to "Bluetooth & other devices".

3. On the right, find your device in the list under "Mouse, keyboard, & pen".

Please note that you might have to scroll further down if there is a section labeled "Audio" since Bluetooth Headphones are an Audio device.

4. You will see the battery level indicator next to the device name.

Bluetooth devices battery level stopped showing

After the recent Windows 10 update to version 1903 (build 18362.116), connected bluetooth devices (mouse, pen) do not show battery levels in Settings (I am quite sure it was showing before).

HP Spectre x360 convertible (2019) with the same BT mouse and digital pen as before the Windows update. I already verified the integrity of system installation - no issues there.

 

Polling Bluetooth Battery level with Powershell

To check the battery level of your compatible Bluetooth devices on Windows 10, use these steps:

1 Open Settings.

2 Click on Devices.

3 Click on Bluetooth & other devices.

4 Under “Mouse, keyboard, & pen,” you’ll see a battery percentage indicator on the right side.

On supported devices, the battery level will update every time your device and Bluetooth peripheral are connected.

If you don’t see the battery indicator, it’s likely because you’re not running the supported version of Windows 10, or your Bluetooth device doesn’t support this feature. The battery level indicator in the Settings app is available starting with the Windows
10 October 2018 Update.
