Windows 10: Windows 10 Is PHOTO program/app necessary

Hi, newbie who is ripping hair out with Windows 10.
Is is OK to just have all my photos in a folder on the desktop? (I never use the cloud) and I can very easily get sub-folders in there.
Do I need to use the frustrating Photo program that came with Win 10 for anything?
I can't move things into folders I want, paste doesn't work, I can't rename things (found it in Explorer) but the whole thing is useless to me, I cannot manipulate anything and it is not intuitive.
I have heaps of photos to sort from my old Windows 7 laptop (love).
Some downloaded photos were automatically put in different folders not of my choice and too difficult to do what I want.
Please help (it will also help others as I will pass it on to friends who no longer use their computers (except for email) since having Windows 10. And I'm a Volunteer radio operator at Marine Rescue, no-one could use Win 10 so we reverted back to Win 7 which we are still using!

Windows 10 - defaul photo program

As I understand that you are not able to see Photo Explosion in the list of default programs, I would suggest you to follow few steps to set Photo Explosion as your default program.

• 
  In the search bar type Default programs and press enter
  
• 
  Click on associate a file type or protocol with a program
  
• 
  Select the file type which you want to associate with the photo Explosion.
  
• 
  After selecting click on change programs
  
• 
  Check whether you are able to see Photo Explosion in the list.

WINDOWS 10 MICROSOFT PHOTO APP

The Photos app brings together pictures from all your devices using OneDrive, so that you can browse them by date, album or folder. It also automatically enhances photos, and creates albums for you, to showcase your best shots.

I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if it helps:

Method 1:

I suggest you to change the Default apps in the setting app and verify the result. You may follow the steps in the below:

• Go to settings and system.
  
• Click on Default Apps and select the appropriately.
  

Method 2:

I suggest you to reinstall Photo app using the PowerShell command
and reinstall using the Windows store. Follow the below steps.

• Open the　Start　menu, type　Windows PowerShell　in the search bar.
  
• Right click on the　Windows　PowerShell　and select　Run as　administrator.
  
• Enter the below command to uninstall the Photo app.
  

• 　　get-appxpackage　　*Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage

If the issue happened after installing the Polarr Pro, we suggest that you uninstall the app first and check if the photo app will work.

To uninstall a program in Windows 10, follow these steps:

• Go to Control Panel.
• Click Programs.
• Look for Programs and Features.
• Right-click Polarr Pro.
• Click Uninstall.

Get back to us with the result.
