    Windows 10 January 2025 update KB5050188 & KB5049981 freezes at 94/98%


    I have an Acer Aspire laptop running Windows 10 x64 and the latest Windows security updates KB5050188 & KB5049981 cause my machine to hang when rebooted to finish installing the updates. I have tried running the Windows update trouble shooter this indicated it had made some changes, but was still unsuccessful and have tried running the DISM clean up and scan program, but this didn't find any issues.Can you please help? Thanks in advance.

    Windows 98 and ME no longer updatable...

    Quite right, XP is still listed in technet. Win 98 unfortunately isn't. Windows 3.1 and 3.2 are listed though.

    why not try to use virtual PC and emulate windows 98 on a XP machine or did someone already suggest that?

    And @ Service Packs: They are updates to the OS, so support on them is not really applicable. Support for Starter, Home Premium and Ultimate ends in 2012-04-10. Quite soon actually.
