  1. Windows 10 keeps forcing updates

    Hi!

I've been trying to control the updates Microsoft is putting on my PC for windows 10, and despite enormous amounts of effort, everything i've tried has made no difference:

"Active Hours" - does nothing. Windows 10 downloads whenever it wants, regardless of my "Active Hours" and prompts to restart during "Active Hours" whenever it wants, no matter how they are set.

"Defer Updates" - does only a 30 day delay, and forcibly deactivates itself whenever Windows feels like it.

"Pause Updates" - resumes itself whenever it wants.

"Bandwidth Limit" - minimum permitted is 5%. I want 0%. I want to choose what is downloaded to my PC, and when. Not a third party company that I have no reason to trust and that has forced dozens of pieces of software onto MY PC that I do not want.

Turning off the windows update service - (This is what the Microsoft support technician told me to do) - does absolutely nothing.

Set the connection to metered - for a brief period this seemed to work, but Microsoft overrides it whenever they want, forcing their updates on me.

Does Microsoft not understand that we want to control our own PCs? I Didn't spend $3,000 on a gaming PC to have Microsoft downloading updates that I do not want while I'm trying to use my own PC for what I bought it for.

    :)

    Windows 10 forced download

I actually had a client call yesterday with an email problem. when I tried walking him through some steps, he says "Yeah, I don't see that there, but I think it's because it's updated to windows 10. It did that a few weeks ago. I came back in on Monday, and it said Welcome to Windows 10"..... I think I'd throw the computer out the window.

^This, then reboot and go to manually update windows. Find KB3035583 in the list of available updates, right-click and "Hide this update" so it doesn't get installed again next go around.
