Windows 10: Windows 10 keeps forgetting my icon thumbnails

Discus and support Windows 10 keeps forgetting my icon thumbnails in Windows 10 Installation and Upgrade to solve the problem; So I go into a folder, and all the thumbnails load up slowly.     Windows 10 keeps forgetting my icon thumbnails


    So I go into a folder, and all the thumbnails load up slowly. Then you expect it's built up the cache so next time you go in it's instant, right? Nope! All forgotten.

    Every single time I go into a folder it's reset.

    I tried deleting to rebuild the cache DB files but they were all locked out, and I can't disable automatic maintenance (which may be erasing the thumbnail cache) as the option to do so isn't available in Windows 10.

    Any ideas?

    PDF thumbnails not showing in Windows 10 windows explorer

    Windows 10's windows explorer does not show PDF thumbnails, only the PDF icon.... Checked all of my icon/thumbnail settings all are set to show thumbnails not icons ….. 95% of my work is with PDF's please fix or inform how to switch back to 8.1 …... NO PDF
    THUMBNAILS IS HURTING MY BUSINESS....

    Thanks for your response. That's probably it. I installed a solid state hard drive (C) and all my data files that I'm trying to look at are now on the D drive, and that's about when it started acting up. I found a web site to clear the cache of thumbnails
    and did that (I forget the details), but that surely affected only the C drive. Can you help me get rid of the cache on D?

    I have Windows 10 v1709 build 16299.192

    The icon setting is unchecked, so I should be seeing all thumbnails, right? Thing is, I see some icons and some thumbnails, and preview pane is hit or miss.
