Windows 10: Windows 10 keeps lagging and freezing randomly for long and short periods

I've got a computer that started to freeze even when there are NO programs running! I know because I have a clock app with the seconds ticking by. The seconds will literally freeze in place and then jump forward after the freeze and it affects my mouse sometimes. Even trying to use a web browser to search can take a long time because it'll freeze the browser into either not showing what I am typing for up to a solid minute or more. Even trying to use the Windows icon or the search bar will sometimes freeze with the popup guessing box being frozen blank. There are times when I would give up waiting and pull out my cellphone and search Google that way and still get the answer before the computer would unfreeze.


It is the most powerful computer I have access to but with all these freezes or lag whatever you want to call it, I find myself using an old Vista laptop because it is actually FASTER than this Win 10 desktop for searching the web or just even doing YouTube. Oh don't even get me started on how Win 10 has frozen the video but not the sound on YouTube videos! What is the world coming to when a 8 year old computer runs faster than Win 10 computer by 20 minutes or more? I actually timed it doing the same tasks such as opening a web browser, typing a question to be searched, watching YouTube, searching for an app, etc.


It seems like my problems started when Win 10 got an update a while back. I tried to solve it myself, all the drivers are up to date, the hard drive has zero issues, memory seems fine, removed what software I could. I don't know which update is the cause or I'd roll back to before it if I can. I've done multiple reboots, and searched the web for solutions, many of which I've tried.

I had already tried turning off fast startup, to no avail.
Will look at the list you provided, thanks. Hard to do when computer freezes on the Windows loading screen though. *Biggrin

I had tried that as well... no result.

I'm trying to open an Intel support ticket. I ran the SSU, and selected the option to submit to Intel. But when I click that it takes me to the site, and I created an account, but it does not appear to be submitting the SSU file.

It wants me to identify my component. So here's a couple options it shows:

I"m not sure how I should proceed.
