Windows 10: windows 10 keeps refreshing!

Here's the full account.

I was installing a game I got from a friend. By the end of it my PC crashed and restarted automatically. After the restart, the desktop kept refreshing it won't let me do anything. I alt+ctrl+deleted and opened task manager. The windows explorer was stuck in a loop of getting suspended and relaunched. Besides that, cortana and skype acted the same way. CPU was hitting 100% usage. I tried restarting, end tasking all of them but nothing.

I did a DISM check through CMD but it gets stuck at 99.99%. Then i did SFC scan which said some files are corrupt but it couldn't fix them. I couldn't access the error log as I cannot navigate anywhere out of windows explorer. I tried safe mode but the problem exists there as well.

I'm pretty sure the game is the culprit and I want to get rid of it but I just can't access the control panel to uninstall it.

Help me out with this please.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Hello ixodid,

You have the option to "Keep my files" or "Remove everything" when refreshing Windows 10.

The steps in the tutorial are for "Keep my files", and why you see that below the table.

 

Cannot access the Sound control panel

Here is a link on how to do a Refresh of Windows 10.
This should correct the problems you have.

It will also install the best drivers MS can determine for the hardware found.
Which means you will not have to search for or install any drivers yourself.

I suggest you do the Option 2.

Refresh Windows 10 Installation Upgrade Tutorials

When you get to step 7, choose "Keep My Files"
It will do this to your PC .

• This is to refresh Windows 10.
• Reinstalls Windows 10 and keeps your personal files.
• Removes apps and drivers you installed.
• Removes changes you made to settings.
• Removes any apps your PC manufacturer installed. (If your PC came with Windows 10, apps from your PC manufacturer will be reinstalled.)
