Windows 10: Windows 10 Keyboard Repeat Rate Went from normal to very fast without me changing anything.

All of a sudden my keyboard typing went "out of control" repeating letters and spacing very fast. This makes it impossible to type a text message or do data entry.


I have Windows 10 updated recently to Build 18362.657 and a wireless HID keyboard. The keyboard hardware is working properly according to control panel - keyboard.


Can you tell me why this happened as I did not change anything?


What should I do to restore the keyboard settings back to normal and stop this problem?

Windows 10 - Keyboard repeat rate resets

I have a Lenovo Yoga 15 Thinkpad that runs Windows 10.

I have the keyboard repeat rate set to maximum (which means holding the key down makes the key repeat as fast as possible.) Whenever the computer goes to sleep, and then wakes back up, the repeat rate resets to a slower value (slower value means the keyboard
repeat rate is no longer as fast as I previously set it,) even though when I check keyboard properties, the value is still set to maximum. The only way I have found to fix this issue is to manually go into keyboard properties and re-apply my desired setting
every. single. time. I. turn. on. my. computer. Thankfully you can make a shortcut to that on the desktop so I don't have to go through the menus every time.

Allow me to save you some time. You are going to send a pre-typed response which shows you did not actually read my post, and this response will tell me to run a troubleshooter and then update my drivers. I have already done both of those steps, there
is no need to do them again.

Lets move to the next section of your assistance flowchart. The one that actually has you look at my problem and find a solution.

For those who are not working for Microsoft and may be reading this, I have already found a posted solution which involves editing the registry values. I have also done that, to no effect. Put the computer to sleep, wake it back up, and even though the
registry values have not changed, the repeat rate has slowed down.

In keyboard control panel I set the keyboard repeat rate to fast. Click apply. Then OK. From that point on the keyboard works the way I want it to. I press a key and the key appears on the screen quickly.

But then I power down the PC at the end of the day. Restart in the morning and notice the keyboard is sluggish again. Go back into keyboard control panel. The keyboard rate slider is all the way to the right. But I move it left and then to the far right,
click apply and OK. Keyboard is now back to not being sluggish.

Why does the keyboard repeat rate setting not stay at the setting I set it to?

Keyboard Repeat Rate becomes 'Slow' every time computer starts


I'm facing a very weird problem with Windows 10 on my new laptop. Every time I boot up or even wake from hibernate, my keyboard repeat rate gets reset to the slowest setting. I notice this only when I start using word or email.

The weirder thing is, in the keyboard settings window the setting would always be shown as "Fast", but actually it would be slow. To make it fast, I have to drag it to slow and then to fast again.

Hope I have made myself clear. Can you please help with this?
