Windows 10: Windows 10: Laptop display defunct. OS intercepts "Fn" buttons, attempts to display enable...

On two of my laptops, the built-in laptop display is defunct. I used to use one of the "Fn" buttons to redirect display to an add-on 2nd screen. Problem is, nowadays Win 10 intercepts the "Fn" button to enable add-on screen, and attempts to display choices on the defunct screen, but that screen is inoperative.


Is there a way to force display to the 2nd screen without going through Win 10? Repairing the screen costs more than the price of a new computer, these days, and both machines minus the screens are perfectly good computers when used with external monitors.

In regards to your concern, since the second screen can't detect the display settings of your other laptop, we suggest that you perform the steps below and see if it helps:

• Go to Settings.
• Click on System.
• Under System, choose Display.
• Under Multiple displays, click on Duplicate these displays and apply.
