    Hi - I hope someone can help.Recently, my Windows 10 laptop that was behaving perfectly all of a sudden slowed to an absolute crawl in that when re-starting the laptop it took over an hour to load windows and the few apps that load with it. This normally takes just a minute or two.I did a fresh install of Windows having just recently backed up all my data. For a day or two things seemed fine. Then all of a sudden it did it again. Everything just came to more or less a grinding halt. I noticed that my disk drive light was on constantly and on checking task manager my disk usage was constantly

    Windows update downloads slow system to a crawl

    I can always tell when Windows update is downloading updates. The entire laptop (8 GB ram and fast FIOS insternet) slows down to a crawl for most of that day. It becomes painfully slow to use.
    Is there anything I can do about that?

    One program crawling after Windows Creator Updates

    Laptop continually slows to a crawl

    I have a 7 year old HP Envy I7 laptop with 12GB memory.
    The main drive is 1TB partitioned to 300GB for the C: drive which has about 30GB free, and 680GB for the second partition which has 50GB free.

    When I first loaded Windows 10 it would boot up in about 1.5/2 minutes if I recall, now ican take up to 15 mins.

    Also. for a while now the laptop suddenly slows to a painful speed, for example, the other day it took 4/5 minutes (yes that is correct) to change from one tab in chrome to another, and just as long for a different program to become active - for example if I wanted to switch from Chrome to Thunderbird.

    If I reboot, the transfer between programs is almost instantaneous again, but after a while, it slows down again.

    I wonder if the problem is due to disc space - or something else.

    Any suggestions about resolving this would be appreciated.
