  1. Windows 10 laptop occasionally drops wifi, computer can't restart

Hi guys I got this problem, it only comes up occasionally, like once every couple of weeks, but I can't seem to figure it out.

I have a Toshiba laptop and I connect to the internet using wifi. Sometimes the wifi would stop working. It shows that I'm still connected to my wifi, but with an exclamation mark that says limited or no internet. I disconnect and then try again, but now my computer doesn't detect any wifi network. I usually can see a bunch of wifi networks, but when it happens I cannot detect any. I have a couple external hard drives connected to my laptop too. When this wifi problem occurs, I also couldn't access the external hard drives. I disconnect them, but they still show up in My Computer and I can click on them, even though they're empty inside. My last problem is that when this wifi problem happens, I can't restart the computer. It just hangs, so I either have to hold the power button down to restart, or to wait for five or so minutes before windows tells me it's having trouble and then it restarts.

My network drivers have all been updated. I do have a VPN service minimized but it's off almost always and it was never running when this wifi problem occurs. I also have Norton Antivirus on. I don't know what could be causing it, because I'm not just getting the wifi problem only, and this problem has occurred about five times since upgrading to Windows 10 this past winter. So it's not too often, but I don't know what could be causing it. Thank you,

    :)

Wifi disconnect, and won't reconnect to home network without restart of asus laptop

Computer diagnostic after applying network adapter reset, then prompts for check ethernet connection as if wifi were not an option. as stated above. If you are suggesting network restart that requires laptop restart and doesn't help.

As for comcast Xfinity modem, well isp states reset maybe nessasary 1x a week.

Reality is reset is at least once a day and a powercycle 1x a week.

Location of modem is not always available to access or at least no easier to get to than restart laptop.

This is not a critical thing, just frustrating. I understand the occasional drop from a wireless network, but how does my own network not recognize me unless I restart laptop or possibly modem?

Windows 10 Build 10586.3 network problems

    Me too. Perhaps...

After updating automatically to 10586.3, I find that my laptop internal Wifi adaptor no longer sees Wifi networks, and will not connect to anything. Occasionally, after a restart, it does work, for a short while, then drops out.

However, if I plug in a USB Wifi stick, connection works fine and is consistent.

    Wired networking works OK.

My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 5520 with an internal Wifi using the 'Dell Wireless 1704 802.11b/g/n' driver. There does not appear to be a newer version of this available.

    Any thoughts?
