Windows 10: Windows 10 laptop slowing down after "normal " update

hi guys i've got an hp probook i5 8gb ram 430 gb free space...so i've been putting off turning off my laptop for the past week, because i absolutely hate waiting an hour for windows to "update"now yesterday afternoon i let it update... but now it's gone to a snails crawl.it would open chrome in 3 seconds now it takes 10 seconds... and the graphics on a couple of my apps now freeze...is this normal after an update?? heck chrome freezes with 15 tabs open... i used to have 20 taps open and 5 other apps no problem.is this just a temporary thing? or is this now permanent?thanks Matthew

Do windows updates slow down the computer?

slow down? not since I swapped to ssds. Now on my laptop if the fan is going nuts while it appears to be doing nothing, I can rest assured its just windows updates making my normally 5-10db laptop sound like a Harrier.

I suggest creating a backup image of your os drive

Try this method:

• First of all from Start Menu, open Settings (Type settings in the search bar and it will appear).
• locate and select “Update and Security“.
• in this window, Locate “Advanced Options”. Click on it.
• In Advanced Options; Click on “Choose How Updates are Delivered“.
• Turn off Updates from more than one place.
