Windows 10: Windows 10 laptop unable to detect my USB type-C hub correctly

I've got a USB type-C hub and it looks like this I was able to use external monitors on my laptop laptop A by connecting them to the HDMI interfaces on the hub. However recently it stopped working.The strange thing is: I can use the hub properly on another laptop laptop B, so I compared the items displayed in Device Manager, and I found the cause: the hub is shown as USB Mass Storage Device after connected to laptop A, and the driver file is USBSTOR.SYS On laptop B, it is shown as Generic SuperSpeed USB Hub, and the driver file is USBHUB3.SYS.I tried to m

On the hunt for USB HUB ( To type C or not to type C? )

I am on the hunt for a usb HUB, as I did a mediocre choice with my MB. On the back I/O, there is 2xUSB2.0 and 2xUSB 3.0 and 1xUSB Type C. I have exhausted everything apart from Type C. Internal headers are also full. OK I have on usb 3.0 header, but I need an adapter or splitter for it.

Anyhow, ideally I want it to charge devices. I still don't own a type C device. USB 3.0 is fine, may be one type C. Something that lasts, won't break in 3 months or so. Can include a card reader or vice versa. Shops I have access apart from local, anything in UK or ebay/banggood/aliexpress, Denmark is also fine. Anyone has experience with USB hubs? Are there any pitfalls I should be aware of ?

Type-C is faster than Type-A/B because it has a third high-speed datalink. Thing is, there really isn't much in the way of good Type-C hubs.

 

USB type c hub not working properly

Hello all,

I recently purchased a type C hub with 3 type a ports. My aim was to plug my wireless mouse and keyboard into the hub to free up some usb ports on my laptop.

The laptop is an Asus ROG GL502. However, I found that if I plugged in my mouse and keyboard, they wouldn't work. My mouse (logitech mx master) would show that the receiver only got power momentarily before
power was lost and my mouse was disconnected. The only way to get the mouse working on the hub was to plug in my phone charger (ie drawing power through the type c port). The same can be said when I swap my mouse for my keyboard.

Even when I plugged in the keyboard without the phone charging, the LED's would light up but I would be unable to type anything. I have tried updating all usb drivers, turning power management off and updating
intel drivers, MS drivers etc.

I tried the usb hub on another laptop and it worked perfectly without the phone charging so I can rule out that it is a faulty usb hub.

Anybody got any suggestions?
