Windows 10: Windows 10 licence when used as VM

Hi,


I have a business requirement that needs me to create the following setup: -


Hyper-V host or other like virtualbox running on a Server with an OS such as Windows Server.


“X” number of virtual machines running windows 10 pro lets say, 15 virtual machines on the same server running an application for use by a customer via means of an iPhone app - in effect, the windows 10 machine is an SQL workhorse for the users iPhone application.


Questions: -


Can we purchase windows 10 Pro licences for each and every VM from the official microsoft store and will this suffice?

Can we as the admin access this device via the hypervisor interface and/or RDP, and still comply with the licencing requirements?

Can our customer the iPhone users access the remote desktop using RDP obviously using the same username and password as the admin.

If this isnt possible, what type of windows licence is needed?

GPU-Z kills windows 10 VM

Hello there,
when I run gpu-z on VM running vgpu (M60 or K2 grid) VM crash and restarts itself.

OS: windows 10
GPU: nvidia grid M60 | nvidia grid K2
GPU-Z release: 1.14~1.17
Issue: windows crash in VM and it won't power on.
How to reproduce: Run gpu-z in a windows 10 VM with (M60 or K2 grid) vgpu, VM restarts instantly without any progress

Please check and release fix for this issue.

Licensing Windows 10 within VMs

A VM is a machine (a device) and subject to one licence as far as windows 10 activation is concerned. If you use a licence on one device then you cannot use it on another.

A retail licence will allow you to change devices but if you keep swapping then the activation may get confused and fail. So if you buy, say one retail licence and use it on a VM then you will need to re-activate if you transfer to a different VM. If you
buy a OEM licence then it is only valid for the first device it is licenced on.

Beware of cheap licences as they may be MSDN origin that is meant for use by one person and if they are selling keys and another person has used the licence already then the key will become invalid.

The best place to buy is MS Store once you have installed Windows 10 and use your Microsoft account for activation.

 

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
