    Windows 10 limits animation framerate to the lowest frequency monitor connected


    I have a 240hz monitor and a 60hz one.
    When I connect the 60hz one the animations like virtual desktop left-right are slowed down to 60hz on the 240hz display.
    Any workarounds to this?

    Hi Ron,

    Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    • What changes did you make in the BIOS? As making the changes in the BIOS is only recommended by Microsoft if done by the manufacturer.
    • How are you connecting to the 2nd monitor?

    Who do I believe- CPU frequency monitoring software?

    to me there is like a 5-10% margin of error with monitoring software. thats why its best to overclock using the firmware (BIOS/UEFI)

    Who do I believe- CPU frequency monitoring software?

    The obvious question, how did you overclock?


    Different programs utilize different readings. Some utilize the minimum reported constant frequency. Some report the frequency dynamically, as speed stepping alters the frequency dynamically. Some report the maximum frequency measured.

    As there are different values monitored, all are "correct." As far as which one to trust, Intel's program was designed to show the information most beneficial. As such, if you want to know maximum frequency it isn't a bad place to start. If you want accurate dynamic frequency readings I suggest Speedfan.
