Windows 10: Windows 10 Location & Geolocation

Hello this question must have been asked many times, but Windows 10 Still does not give correct Locations and all of the suggestions about setting a Default in the Maps App is a Total waist of time, this is Microsoft's bad code within Windows 10 Versions that has not been fixed in there Version updates, I just installed Firefox to test even though I won't use it as it cannot handle my full volt gig1 speed its limited, anyway Location works with Firefox and displays correctly on Google Maps the Blue Dot also shows on Map! So it's Something badly configured in the Microsoft Edge Browserthat th

Location GREYED out in windows 10...no option of turning on Windows Location Platform in Windows 10

Thank you for your interest in Windows 10.

I suggest you to turn On Windows location platform by the below steps and see if it helps.

Method 1:

1) Type location in the search bar and click on change location settings.

2) Then, check the box Turn ON Windows location platform” and “Help improve Windows Location services”.

3) Click on Apply.

Alternatively, you can go to Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, and then click location settings.

Method 2:

Please follow the steps to run System Maintenance troubleshooter
on the computer:

• Type “Control Panel” on the search box.
• Click on Troubleshooting.
• Click on View all option on the left side of the Windows.
• Click on System Maintenance option.
• Click on Next and follow the onscreen instructions to troubleshoot the issue.

Also, make sure to check the geolocation service and set it to automatic.

Open Run command by pressing Win Key + R, type services.msc
and find Geolocation services.

Windows location stuck on very old location

I understand your concern. Let me help you with this issue.



Method 1: I suggest you to follow the below steps.

1. Go to Weather app in the search bar, and choose settings.

2. In the General tab, Under Launch location, select always detect my location.
3. If Location services is turned off for weather, click on settings.

4. Choose Location in the left pane.

3. Under Location for this device is on, check if it is turned on.

Also, suggest you to clear history of the location from the Settings > Privacy > Location.

Method 2: Start the Geolocation service.

1. Press Windows + R, type Services.msc, and hit enter.
2. Choose Geolocation service from the list.

3. Start the service if it is stopped, and check if it works.

Location service is greyed out

Sorry for the inconvenience caused for you, I suggest you to try the below troubleshooting steps and check If it helps.

Step 1: Steps to turn on the Location settings.

• Login as an administrator.
• Press Windows key, type Location settings and select
  Change location settings.
• Check whether Location for this device is On by clicking on
  Change.
• Also turn on Location as well.

Step 2: And as you are unable to set the service Geolocation service to automatic, I suggest you to run SFC scan and check.

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

Follow the below steps:

• 
  Right click on the Start button, click on
  Command Prompt (Admin).
  
• 
  Type “sfc /scannow” without the quotes and hit
  Enter.
  
• 
  After the scan, restart the computer and check for the issue.
