Windows 10: Windows 10 login pin issue

Recently, I had my battery replaced for my laptop and since then, I can no longer log into the windows. The screen shows this message "Your PIN is no longer available due to a change to the security settings on this device. Click to set up your PIN again." And when I click on 'set up my PIN', it does nothing. I've tried doing the cmd and other recovery method using shift+restart but it asks for a password for my email ID. I've tried entering Microsoft and Google password. But it says incorrect password. When I click on forget password, it takes me back to the lock screen.

I suggest you to create a PIN for your device and try the on screen keyboard to login to the same.

You may follow the steps below to create PIN protection for your device.

  Go to Settings and select account.

  Click on sign in option and Go to PIN option.

  Now click on Add and set PIN for login.
  

You can use the same PIN to login to your device using the on screen Keyboard from ease of access option and verify the result.

Little to no keyboard input on windows 10 login screen

I have encountered an issue where only the space bar and enter keys work on login.

Below is a step by step of what I have found so far:

1. I restarted my computer - and tried to enter my pin and noticed that nothing was happening and i could not log in but the enter and space keys were working.
2. I then walked through the change pin process - it through me back to the login screen and inputs worked again.
3. I then tried running the hardware and device troubleshooter and it found no issues.
4. I then downloaded the windows diagnostic tool - it repaired two issues in relation to a windows update, on in regards to a corrupt database and another which i cant remember.
5. I restarted after it fixed these issues and I could log in fine.
6. I then restarted again to be 100% sure it worked - and behold the issue was back again.
7. As long as I go into the reset pin process and come back into the login screen again I can then enter my pin.

I dont know what has caused this issue and if anyone else has encountered it but is there any fixes or other potential solutions could try to resolve this?

Am thinking at the moment I may have to do a clean install of windows 10 but I would like to avoid that if I can. *sarc

The above issue might occur due to some of the missing/corrupted system files and folders or if the user profile is corrupted on the computer.

Before we assist further, are you facing the above issue since upgrading to Windows 10?

I suggest you to try removing the PIN once and then add it again and check.

If the issue persists, follow the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.

• Press Windows logo + I keys on the keyboard to open
  Settings window on the computer.
• Select Accounts and Sign-in options from the left side panel of the window.
• Click on I forgot my PIN under Password option on the right side panel of the window and enter the account login password.
• Enter another PIN combination or use the old password to set up the PIN password on the computer.
• Lock the screen by pressing Windows logo + L keys on the keyboard and check if it works.
• Restart the computer and check if the changes are effective.
