Windows 10: Windows 10 - Low storage message on D drive

I continuously get a "low disk space" message in reference to the local D drive (450MB recovery drive partitioned from the storage C drive). My D drive is at 400 MB used with 50 MB available. I have used the system cleanup function, but continue to get the message. I have also tried to remove any files on the D drive, but no files exist to remove. I have researched fixes to this issue, but have not found one that gives me enough confidence to execute. Most of the answers found from searching Google relate to "disabling" this Windows message function via the registry or installing a 3rd party software program to manage these functions. I do not want to install an unneeded and potentially harmful program, and I'm unsure about disabling the message and what that could potentially do. What recommendations do you have? Should I be concerned that the D drive is 89% full? How do I ensure the D drive maintains enough storage space to function properly?

windows 10 disk space low on d:

I'm being sent messages every 5 minutes that my disk space is low on D drive, but there are no files listed under that drive. What is D Drive for and how do I change my account so this doesn't continue to happen?
