Windows 10 Mail App deleting emails in my Gmail Inbox

When I delete an email received in my Win 10 Mail App inbox, the same email is also deleted in my Gmail inbox, automatically. I would like to prevent this. Emails deleted from my Mail App should be left behind in my Gmail inbox. Could I prevent this deletion from happening by changing an IMAP Access setting in my Gmail settings?

I attach two pictures. In the one, you can see how my Win 10 Mail App was configured by Windows when I added my Gmail account. In the other picture, you can see what I consider changing in my IMAP settings at GMail. I have no idea if this will help and whether I should make this change. I am fairly computer-illiterate.

    Could somebody advise me please?

    :)

  3. Deleting Email From Gmail Account On WP7 Device Does Not Delete From Server

The deleted e-mail at IMAP client not removed from Gmail inbox storage and still been kept is caused by the unique feature of Gmail, which pioneered label technology to categorize mails. In IMAP-enabled Gmail, each IMAP folder is actually a label on the
email message, and is not part of actual location of the message. Thus deleting an email message from inbox is actually just removing the inbox label which identifying the message as being in the inbox from the mail message in Gmail engine, and deleting a
mail message from a folder means remove custom label on email as when view from Gmail web interface.

That is the whole point of IMAP to sychronise the Mail Folders on the server with what is on your PCs Email clients Win 10 Mail App).

The setting you indicate basically won't change that. I'm not entirely sure myself what that Gmail setting means, but it won't do what you require.

I think the Auto-Expunge off means that you can delay the syncing by a time interval or manually, as set in the Win 10 Mail App drop down box for Syncing at the top of your images.
If you stop the syncing you won't get new Emails displayed in the Win 10 Mail App.

The Windows 10 Mail App does not have local user storage folders. You have to create those folders in Gmail and then those will sync with same folders displayed by the Mail App.
So if you want to keep Emails in your own named folders you have to create those in Gmail, and move emails into those folders to keep.

Thanks for the response and the appreciated advice. I use the Win 10 Mail app because it's an IMAP service making my emails accessible over different platforms: computer, phone, tablet etc.

I have since found out that if you delete an email in the Win 10 Mail app, it gets deleted in your Gmail inbox as well. I must have lost quite a few very important emails the past two or three years, not fully grasping what "syncting" exactly implied.

The question now is whether the emails shown in the Win 10 Mail inbox disappear from view -- WITHOUT having been deleted at Gmail -- after a certain number limit or time limit has been reached. For instance when 100 emails have been shown in the Mail inbox or after a month has passed since an email arrived at Gmail. If this is the case, then a Win 10 Mail setting might help to limit the number of mails shown in the Mail inbox and thus the inclination to start deleting.

I notice that settings for a certain email account, e.g. a Gmail account, can be made HERE:

Open Windows Mail > Accounts > Right Click on an account, e.g. your GMail account > Account Settings > Click on "Options for Syncting your contents" > Scroll to "Download email from" > Select from "the last 3 months", "the last two weeks", "the last month" etc.

Would choosing for instance "the last month" rather than "the last 3 months", reduce the number of emails shown in my Mail inbox, with emails that arrived two months ago removed from view but safely left behind in my Gmail inbox?
