Windows 10: Windows 10 Mail app keeps changing my password to the wrong password

This question has come up before with 100's of confirmations, but no real answers from Microsoft. These people including myself need a fix, pronto. The mail settings stores the wrong password and cannot access mail.

Windows 10 Mail app keeps automatically changing my password to the wrong one

Hi.

In the Mail App in Windows 10, the 9 character password for my Yahoo Mail account keeps being changed to a 16 character one which is wrong, meaning I can't download messages. The error message "your account settings are out of date, please update them"
keeps coming up but every time I change the password to the correct one it gets changed to the incorrect one.

I've tried deleting the account from the Mail App and setting it up again (both using the "Yahoo" autoset up and setting up pop3 and smtp server options) but nothing I do fixes the problem and every time I re-setup the account it just reverts to the wrong
password and doesn't download (or let me send) mail. It's like there's something buried deep in Windows memory somewhere....

Is there a fix for this? It's a pain as Yahoo Mail is so crap to use online!

Windows 10 Mail app keeps changing my password (to the wrong one)

I no longer have this problem, the password on the mail app is working fine.

But I don't think my password was changed, by microsoft, the system just shows 16 * so others have no idea what it is.

What I did find was that I had an account with my IP using one password, then another for their mail system, and had said yes to my system remembering both passwords.

When I changed my IP account and their mail system to the same password and said no to my system remembering the password it came right and I have not had any trouble since. Whenever I change my IP password, I get a message when I log into mail, I simply
enter the new password and again it works.

The only problem I have now is with my contacts. When I open a new email to send and start to type my contacts name, I get a list of contacts some of whom are not listed in the People app. Can anyone tell me where else contacts are stored other than People?
