Windows 10: Windows 10 mail app resets account settings to defaults

I have a long term recurring problem with the Windows 10 mail app - The Windows 10 mail app periodically resets the signature, swipe, focused inbox, and other settings to default. When it happens, it does it for all configured accounts. 3-9 accounts per machine It happens on multiple computers, all clean Windows 10 installs, with multiple accounts Microsoft, gmail, outlook. It may occur after app or system updates, but not all computers each update cycle. I'm a a long term IT support engineer, and this has been a frustrating issue for years.

Issue with Mail App in Windows 10

To better help you with your concern, kindly tell us what account (e.g. Outlook.com, Google, Yahoo! Mail) you are using in
Mail application.

In the meantime, we suggest that you follow the steps below to set the
Mail application as the default application:

• Click the Start button and then select Settings.
• Choose System and then go to Default apps.
  
• Click the Reset button and then set the Mail app for
  Email.

If you are using an Outlook account and there’s an Outlook application installed on your device, kindly set Outlook as the default application for Email.

Cannot open mail app settings


OK, my next suggestion was going to be uninstalling Mail and Calendar and reinstalling from the Windows Store. You can have a go at this by following these steps.

1. Open the Start menu, type Windows PowerShell.
2. Right click on the Windows PowerShell and select Run as administrator.
3. Enter the below command to remove the Mail and calendar app.

get-appxpackage *microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps* | remove-appxpackage

After performing the above steps, install the Mail and calendar app from the Windows Store.

Hope this helps, you will, of course, have to add you accounts back again.

 

Mail and Calendar app stuck on Creating account

All,
My Mail and Calendar app has failed to work since this morning.
It stopped receiving any mail this morning, with the reset of the mail app pretty much making it useless.



I have reset the app, restarted the computer and now the next step if it has to happen, a FULL reset of the computer.
Is there any problems with the way Gmail has been set up today?
I am running Windows 10 1903 x64 on a Lenovo 330-15ikb.
