Windows 10: Windows 10 Mail app

I have just recently started to use the Windows 10 Mai app. My computer crashed three weeks ago and I had to buy a replacement, it came with Win 10 Pro which installed without any problems and is working fine. On my previous machine I was using Window Live Mail but deceided to go wit the Mail app tat was installed with this copy of Win 10.

The problem I ma having is that if a I receive an email with an attachment they attachment is greyed out. If I right click on the attachment it gives me the option to Open or Save the file. If I then click on Save it takes me to my Documents folder where I need to save the file before I can open it, if I click on Open it also takes me my Documents folder where again I need to save the file before I can open it. If I left click on the attached file it takes me directly to my Documents folder where again I need to save the file before I can open it.This is a real pain and clearly not how it is supposed to work.

If you go to Windows Settings by the Win Key and the I key, then into the Apps & Features tab, then find the Mai and Calender tab, then press RESET, the app resets OK. I then go back to my Mail app and I can see the attached file in full, and now I can click on it and an icon appears on the bottom task bar form which indicates the file is open, I click on that and the files pops up on my screen.

I upgraded my Mail app twodays ago, there is no difference.

What should happen is the attached fiel should show up noy greyed out, and should open with the left click of the mouse.

This problem applies to any file type including xls, xlms, png, jpeg, pdf, and is not confined to any particular file type.

I have searched the internet for a solution but I cannot find this particular problem refered to.


Any help would be appreciated, I deal with incoming attachments all the time and this just slows me down.

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

 

Mail app will not open on 10041.

I did that to no avail, then I ran WSReset.exe; now I'm good on all 3, Mail, Calendar and People! *Confused
Go figure!
