Windows 10 Mail Client Not Showing Contents of GMail Folders

I had the problem of the Windows 10 Mail client incorrectly showing GMail folders as empty. No amount of refreshing or changes to the expiry date settings made any difference.

    The solution:
In the GMail web client it is possible to Show or Hide email folders in the folder list. Those set to Hide appear under the More heading but not in the main list. For some reason, the Windows Mail client is fetching such folder names but not their contents. By changing the errant folder from Hide to Show in the GMail web client, the contents will download to the Windows Mail client as normal.

Windows Mail - Sent Folder (Hotmail) not showing mail > 30days old

Hi All, I've searched wide and far online for an answer but have had little luck - looking to one of you for some guidance here if possible.

    Issue:
    • Sent mail folder in Mail application on Windows 10 doesn't sync more than 30 days of send messages for Hotmail account.
    • Only Hotmail account affected on Mail application; other sub folders sync as far back as possible
    • Gmail account is fine - can see years of sent email

    Context:
    • I have 2 accounts added to my Mail client on Windows 10 - 1 hotmail, 1 gmail
    • I have Outlook mail installed on this machine also
    • Windows 10 Pro
    • Dell Precision M3800
    • Upgraded from Windows 7 -> Windows 10

    Tried:
    • Removing and readding the hotmail account
    • Tried removing and adding the account as POP3 account as well as the built in Hotmail autosetup link
    • Removed all email accounts and readded them
    • Ensured that the application has permission to access calendar (have seen this online in a few places as a possible problem maker)
    • Checked that I have my sent messages (I can see them in Outlook 2013, but not in Mail -> Sent folder)

All help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance!

  4. Windows 10 Mail Client Not Showing Contents of GMail Folders

Windows 10 Mail forgets Gmail password almost every day

    Reason

Windows Mail app keeps prompting for Gmail account password frequently with the "your gmail settings are out of date" message—
According to a comment on this post . . .

    Potential Solutions

Based on some quick research there may be two options that may help resolve this. . .

    1. Enable the 2-Step Verification functionality and security feature with your Gmail account and then use the 2-Step Verification to verify and trust the Windows Mail app to have access to your Gmail account
    2. Enable and use the Less Secure Apps functionality by turning that ON and using your usual Gmail account password with the Windows Mail app to authenticate
