Windows 10: Windows 10 mail focused inbox wont disable any more

Some how focused inbox became enabled. probably by removing and re-adding accounts. Using the standard procedure in settings for disabling focus now does nothing. I have removed and reinstalled the MAIL CALENDAR app to no avail. Any thoughts please.

Solution to Mail App crashing when trying to disable focused inbox

I've seen a few others have had the same problem as I with Windows 10 Mail App crashing when trying to enable/disable focused inbox. The few solutions posted suggesting uninstalling and reinstalling did not work for me. Here is what I have found to work
and is very repeatable.

With laptop in Tablet mode ON the Mail App will not crash when you go to Settings => Focused inbox.

With laptop in Tablet mode OFF the Mail App will crash when going to settings => Focused inbox.

My new HP Spectre x360 has the Mail App crashing problem with Windows 10 v1903. A much older HP Envy, without touchscreen, does not have the problem with the Mail App crashing.

 

Gmail Focused Inbox in Win 10 mail
