Windows 10: Windows 10 Mail opens mail stored on computer as a viewer instead of inside the Mail program

Okay, this question is WAY below your level of greatness, but please bear with me...


I have old eml files on my desktop and spread out in various folders. Before I got rid of Outlook, then emClient email, my system worked great to store files in my computer's various folders where I could go back to them, open them, and it would open them in your email program and you could reply or forward the email or whatever you wanted, right there.


Now that I have Windows Mail, it WILL open the eml emails, but it it just a blank pic of the email with no options to replay or send or whatever--it is like it opened in a viewer instead of the eml file actually being opened in the Mail program.


I have Mail set as my default mail program and it is working just file and the file association for the eml files is connected to Mail, but all I am getting for the hundreds of emails is the ability to VIEW them, not open them into the Mail program to respond to the emails. I used to be able to do that all the time, and it was great for forwarding emails and then putting a new question or update at the top of the old email. Does anyone have any idea why my emls are opening in view mode rather than actively in the Mail program? I really am getting too old for this . . .

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

I did that to no avail, then I ran WSReset.exe; now I'm good on all 3, Mail, Calendar and People! *Confused

I need a slick E-mail program!

My parents are absolutely stonewall about keeping AOL. The best reason they can give me for keeping it is the easy to use E-mail interface. I ain't arguing, I haven't found anything easier to use, but it TAKES SO MUCH MEMORY! And so I'm thinking that if I can find something nice and easy to use, I might be able to get my parents to use it instead of AOL, and finally get the bloatware known as AOL off my computer! The requirements-

• Must be easy to use
• Can't be browser-based (so AIM mail, Yahoo, and MSN are no-no's)
• Preferably compatible with AOL mail, my parents don't want to switch E-mail accounts
• Can't be Mozilla Thunderbird...I tried it and it sucks in terms of multiple E-mail accounts, and it erased all my saved mail *Frown .

Any ideas?
