Windows 10 Malicious Software Removal Tool Problem

    Hello-
I just downloaded and ran this W10 program. It ran for over two hours and during the run indicated there were 12 infected files. At the end, it indicated NO infected files. Can anyone tell me why this is?
    Thanks,
    Keith

The Malicious Software Removal Tool (MSRT) is not "built into Windows 10".

"Microsoft generally delivers MSRT with Windows Update the second Tuesday of the month. The standalone version available on this* page is delivered at the same time.

Malicious Software Removal Tool problem or bug

I run MRT manually once a week to check my system. When I ran it today I noticed that - as it was running- it supposedly found 1 infected file. Here's a screen shot:

However, after the scan completed it reported on the summary screen that
    no
    viruses were found:

When I click the "View detailed results of the scan" link all the entries say "Not infected".

I immediately ran full scans with Kaspersky, MalwareBytes, Windows Defender and Comodo Cleaning Essentials to check my system and no viruses were found by any of these applications.

If I run MRT again the same thing happens (i.e. it finds 1 file during the scan but the summary says it found nothing) so whatever files is triggering the detection isn't even being removed.

Should I be concerned? Is this a bug or is there a real virus on my system? How do I find out which file is triggering the detection?

I'm obviously a little bit paranoid now so any help with this will be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

Sounds as though it found 12 things and cleaned them.

You might want to do a full scan with your AV product.

You can also do a full scan Malicious Software Removal Tool to double check the results

    WinKey+R
type mrt in the run box
