    Windows 10 - Mapping Drives on Older PC


    We have upgraded some of our pc's. Before the latest rounds Microsoft updates we were able to see and have permissions to mapped drives. Now we can only see mapped drives. Now when accessing these files, we get a Network Error Message. I have searched for some previous answers in the community. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...0-mapped/546ca881-c04a-461d-a042-7e6ef0a420c6 . I went thru the steps described by the moderator and was stopped at #6 because I do not see all the users in our network. Currently there is no domain that these pc's log into, they are networked thru a Cisco Meraki router. The builds of Windows 10 are different between the older pc (Win Ver = Build 1803 17134.765) that had mapped drives and the newer pcs (Win Ver = Build 1809 17763.503). I noticed that Microsoft got away from the Workgroups that was in Windows previous versions, 7 and 8; not sure if that has anything to do with it. Thank You.

    Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

    Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

    Mapped Network Drives not appearing in File Manager/This PC after Win 10 Upgrade

    Hi Eldon,

    Thank you for being a part of Windows 10.

    The issue could be due to the map drive got disconnected.

    I would suggest you to try the following steps.

    a. Right click on the ‘This PC’.

    b. Click on ‘Map Network drive’.

    Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any other issues with Windows in future.
