Windows 10: Windows 10 March update Black screen

Hi there, I received a notification that I have to update my windows. I started the update and suddenly my laptop screen went black and it's been black since then. I can only say that my laptop is on by the light on power button, as I can't see anything else on the screen. It doesn't allow me to force shut my laptop even if I press and hold power button. What can be done in this case? Any help would be appreciated

• When the screen was blank, were you able to see the cursor on the screen?
