Windows 10: Windows 10: Microsoft Protected EAP (PEAP) - 802.1x Authentication Credentials (User...

We are using the Microsoft Protected EAP (PEAP) Network Authentication with CISCO ISE to authenticate endpoints in our campus.


Every time after the installing updates on Windows 10 Computers, the 802.1x authentication credentials (User Authentication) saved on the clients are lost. We need to replace the username / password to successfully connect the client to the network.


After thorough examination, the Cisco Support team concluded that the the authentication credentials on windows 10 are either lost or altered during/after the installing the updates.


Kindly help to resolve the issue.

EAP-FAST Support in Windows 10

Thanks for getting back on this. However, neither of the links you provided are of help.

The first link seems to be appropriate for Windows Server. I couldn't find the Internet Authentication Service in the Administrative Tools or in my computer's Services list.

The second link discusses enabling EAP enforcement in general. Please note that I can see EAP-TTLS and EAP-PEAP available but not EAP-FAST.

To understand what I am talking about, please follow the steps below:

1) Go to Network and Sharing Center

2) Click on "Set up a new connection or network"

3) In the new window that opens, click on "Manually connect to a wireless network"

4) Give a "Network name" (anything should be fine just to move forward) and choose "Security type" as "WPA2-Enterprise"

5) Click Next followed by "Change connection settings"

6) In the window, click on the "Security" tab

7) In the drop-down menu under "Choose a network authentication method", you will see only the following 3 options:

• Microsoft: Smart Card or other certificate
• Microsoft: Protected EAP (PEAP)
• Microsoft: EAP-TTLS

I am not getting EAP-FAST as an option here and that is the problem. I used to have it in Windows 8.1 but it's not available in Windows 10.
