    Windows 10 missing option "Always show incons never thumbnails"


    Hi all,

    in a couple of windows 10 installation with version

    - 2004 19041.508

    - 20H2 19042.630

    there's no option "Always show icons, never thumbnails", the checkbox is totally missing.


    I've tried to do reset folder without success.


    For example, in my pc with 20H2 19042.630 I've the option.


    Any hint on this?

    • Click Start, type File Explorer, and then press
      Enter.
    • On the File Explorer window, click the View tab > Options > Change folder and search options > View
      tab.
    • Under the Advanced settings section, select the Always show icons, never thumbnails option.
    • Click the Apply > OK button to save the changes.
    • Once you’re done, you may check if the issue persists.

    File Explorer not showing thumbnails

    Brink,

    Many thanks for you reply. I have done all the steps you suggested, but no change,

    When I open a folder containing photos, some open correctly but the vast majority open with thumbnails, but they very quickly get overwritten and you can not longer see the thumbnails.

    Are there any more suggestions?

    No thumbnails issue in Windows 10

    Thank you for your prompt response. Certain folder options can cause the thumbnails not to appear in your File Explorer. Let us follow these steps to ensure that the thumbnail settings are enabled:
