    What year is it? 2020

What is the problem? Windows turns off monitors and the HDMI audio is cut off, ruining the playback. Smart devices phones, tablets do not have this problem. This is a Windows quirk. Ironically, Windows 10 has a tablet mode won't activate on a desktop from what I can see, so it should have the ability to detect audio playback and not stop the stream.........

This thread has no resolution from what I could find reading through it:

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...ndows-10/98d4f468-e4de-4701-8502-f58c7354fccd

This is not the first problem reported to Windows 10 causing serious grief. And all reports in the Windows Feedback app have gone unanswered for years. Does Microsoft take any of this seriously? I guess they won't until some other OS developer comes along to make them address the deficiencies in their usability and stability of the OS.

Without disabling screen shutoff, how do I fix this problem?

Has anyone had this experience when playing back a movie DVD, streaming, or whatever? I use it primarily for music, I haven't tried video to see if the same issue happens with that.

    :)

Audio stops playing when user is switched in Windows 10

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that while playing audio on Windows Media Player, if you change the user account the audio stops playing.

I would like to inform that in Windows 10 if the computer is locked while audio is played on the computer the audio will continue to play. However, if we switch the user account, the control will be given to the user that is currently logged in and
audio will stop playing as this is by design.

However, if you have any ideas, suggestions or feedback, we do have a place to share the ideas and suggestions. You can use the

    Feedback Hub
application to share all the ideas, suggestions and feedbacks.

  3. audio stopped working, windows 10

upgraded to windows 10 by reservation few days ago... compatibility test result was fine... audio stopped working all of a sudden... tried upgrading the driver software in device manager
but in vain... also tried these methods suggested by Microsoft help community... but the audio is still not working, neither speakers nor headphones

    Method 1:

I suggest you to run the Playing Audio troubleshooter and check if it helps.

    • Type troubleshooting in the search bar.
    • Select Troubleshooting.
    • Select View all on the top left corner.
    • Click on Playing Audio.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.
    • Check if issue persists.

    Method 2:

If there no updated drivers available on the computer manufacturer’s website, then try installing it in compatibility mode. Compatibility mode runs the program using settings from a previous version of Windows. Follow these steps to install the drivers
in compatibility mode and check if that helps.

    • Download the audio driver from the manufacturer’s website.
    • Right-click on the driver setup file and click on ‘Properties’.
    • Click on the ‘Compatibility’ tab and check the box ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select Windows 8/8.1 operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation. Once this is done,
restart the computer and check if the issue persists

  4. Windows 10 Monitors turn off -- audio play back stops

No sound while playing audio and video files.

    Hi,

I appreciate if you could answer to a few questions to narrow down to the issue.

    • Which is the application that you are using to play the files?
    • Did you try the same on a different player?
    • Did you perform any troubleshooting steps?
As an initial troubleshooting step, I suggest you to check if the volume is set low or in mute state in Volume Mixer.

    • Right click on sound icon.
    • Open Volume Mixer check for the application that you are playing the files with and increase the volume and check.
If the issue still persists, I would suggest you to run “Playing audio” troubleshooter to diagnose and fix the issue.

Follow these Steps to run Playing Audio Troubleshooter in Windows 10.

    1. Type troubleshooting in the search bar.

    2. Select Troubleshooting.

    3. Select View all on the top left corner.

    4. Click on Playing audio.

    Thank you.
