Windows 10: Windows 10 mouse cursor disappears and duplicated somewhere else

After a Windows Update, the cursor dissappeared. Except a "fake" cursor appears and won't move regardless of what I do. The actual cursor flashes as it moves, but disappears as soon as movement stops. The "fake" cursor remains in the same place regardless.


I backed out the several Windows Updates of that day, and the problem went away. But it came back the next day when Windows Updated again. So I backed out the updates again and created a Restore Point. This worked for a couple of days, then those updates appear to have been incorporated into a Security Update, which Windows would not allow me to back out. And the Restore Point disappeared, preventing me from backing it out that way.


I completely reinstalled Windows, losing all graphics design programs, the Corporation's QuickBooks, and all other programs running on the primary computer for the company. In the process of guessing at what version of Win 10 I had who gives several versions the same number, anyway?, I guessed wrong and ended up having to purchase a Windows Upgrade for over $200.


Naturally, the new Windows install includes the same problem.


I have followed procedures to do Clean Boot and Safe Mode boot. The problem occurs in both of those conditions.


This Windows Update has disabled our business' primary high-end graphics design computer, which is also used for payroll. How do you suggest I tell employees, during this world-wide pandemic, that the reason they cannot be paid has nothing to do with the virus--it's due to the inability to disable Windows Update?

Mouse cursor disappearing

Whenever I close my windows 10 laptop, my mouse cursor disappears. Without a cursor I can't click on anything. Is their any way to prevent it from disappearing?

Step 5. Use the down arrow key to select your mouse device.

Step 6. Press Shift + F10 open the context menu.

Step 7. Choose Update driver with arrow keys and hit Enter.

Step 8. Follow the on-screen installation instructions to finish the updates and then check whether the lost cursor or mouse not working issue persists on your Windows 10 laptop or desktop PC.
